Previously we reported that Income/Outcome business simulations have been picked up as a tool forintroducing enterpreneurship in Abu Dhabi. One of the Khalifa Fund areas of focus is women. Leila Ben-Gacem has been working with women in the ‘empty quarter’, helping them to rekindle interest in weaving, which is a traditional craft for Bedouin women. The National, Abu Dhabi’s main newspaper, put together a short documentary on this project, it shows some of the women with their weaving, and talks about what it means. My take-away from the video is this message: When I weave, I remember my mother. This past week, Leila has sent me some photos of an Income/Outcome workshop at Ruwais.

‘Group 3' is playing with English language materials, but the simulation materials were translated into Arabic.Leila reports that the participants are all university graduates, ages 22 – 28, and that they are all excited about starting their own businesses. There was much learning from the simulation, and from each other! And it does look like they were engaged.
