For Over Twenty Years,

Making Sense of Business: A Simulation ® (MSOB) was offered by Development Dimensions International (DDI) under license from Andromeda Simulations International, creators of the Income|Outcome® Business Simulation.

While DDI no longer offers this program, Making Sense of Business was built on the Income|Outcome learning design—the same experiential foundation we continue to use in organizations around the world.

The Connection Between MSOB and Income|Outcome

Making Sense of Business was a customized version of our Income|Outcome Business Acumen workshop, designed to help participants understand how everyday decisions affect the financial performance of their organization.

Through the simulation, participants learned to:
Read and interpret financial statements
See how operational choices affect profit, cash flow, and long-term value
Work across functions with a clearer sense of how the business succeeds

That structure and learning journey remain at the heart of today’s Income|Outcome workshops.

A Note on Purpose and Use

When DDI introduced Making Sense of Business®, it was positioned as a way to build empathy for decision makers—helping participants appreciate the trade-offs managers face.

Our focus is business acumen, but both aims align naturally with the Income|Outcome philosophy: learning business by seeing the whole picture and making real decisions with real consequences.
