Business Acumen - political change, as well cultural

I’m a business owner.

I value stability, but I also value improvements.
I value low taxes, but I also value a well-educated populace and well-maintained infrastructure.
I value freedom from unnecessary bureaucracy, but I also value fair and transparent processes.

In other words, I understand the legitimate concerns of both the Right and the Left in politics. I’m not in favor of Big Government or Small Government, so much as government that works—one that is efficient, transparent, and accountable.

Businesses thrive on stability, but too much stability becomes stagnation—which is bad for business.

The Unavoidable Nature of Change

The world is changing faster than ever, driven by interlinked factors:

  • Technology
  • Mass communication
  • Global travel and immigration
  • Cross-cultural exchange
  • The pursuit of longer, healthier, and richer lives

At Andromeda Simulations International, when we teach business finance and business acumen through Income|Outcome, the necessity of change is an unspoken part of the learning process.

Change may begin with a technological breakthrough or a response to customer demand, but it ripples outward—affecting businesses, industries, and even politics.

Some will resist change, others will accept it, and others will modify it, ultimately shaping what the future looks like. And once the change settles, it will feel normal—while the earlier situation will seem primitive and inefficient.

A Historical Perspective on Change

A few hundred years ago, Western Europeans condemned the use of table forks, considering them sinfully pretentious and worthy of death.

Cultural norms evolve, often in ways that seem ridiculous in hindsight. For an entertaining example of how culture changes over time, check out The Uncommon Origins of the Common Fork.
